Time talks. It speaks more plainly than words. Time 1 in many ways.
Consider the different parts of the day, for example. The time of the day when something is done can give a 2 meaning to the event. It is not a 3 to telephone someone very early in the morning. If you telephone him early in the day, 4 he is probably shaving or having breakfast, the time of the call shows that something is urgent and 5 immediate attention.
The same meaning is 6 telephone calls made after 11:00 pm. If someone receives a call during sleeping hours, he may think it is a 7 of life or death. The time chosen for the call 8 its importance.
In social life, time plays a very 9 part. In the United States, guests tend to feel they are not highly regarded if the 10 to a dinner party is extended only three or four days before the party date. But this is not 11 in all countries. In other areas of the world, it may be considered foolish to make an appointment too far 12 because plans which are made for a date more than a week away tend to be 13 .
The meaning of time 14 from place to place in the world. 15 , misunderstandings often arise between people from different cultures that 16 time differently. For example, promptness (及时) is 17 greatly in American life. If people are not prompt, they may be regarded as 18 or not fully responsible. In the US, no one would think of keeping a business associate 19 for an hour; it would be too rude. A person who is five minutes late is 20 to make a short apology.

Let me take you back a couple of years. Come with me as we relearn a lesson, one that has stuck with me, in present memory, and 1 me yet.
We walked into Elida Road Hardware, an old-fashioned hardware 2 . No automatic door, not a computer in the building. It was one that I went to fairly often. As we entered the door, two sounds 3 us. The sleigh bells of last year made that sweet, peaceful tinkle as we opened the door. The other sound was the electronic beeper that reminded Andy of our

“Good afternoon, Ryan,” 5 the cheerful acknowledgment. Andy was a very 6 sort of owner. He was of medium build and height, and the smile on his face welcomed us.
We walked across the old wood floor. Andy asked us what he could help us with. I told him we were 7 a spring (弹簧). He very patiently replied, “I have lots of springs, You’re going to need to be more 8 .”
“Just a spring for an old-fashioned screen door.”
“That’s it. A screen door spring. Right down there.” We 9 where he was pointing, and sure enough there they were. Andy knew his store, and his products. That was why I came here instead of Meijer. The service couldn’t be beaten. The price: Yes. But service and 10 : No 1.

He nodded and smiled, “Good dad’s account” He chuckled. “I don’t know what you boys would do 13 dad’ s account!”
He handed me the ticket and as I 14 it I asked, “You really trust my signature?”

A letter from Grandpa
Dear Ronny,
Years ago you came to me for help. You said, “Grandpa, how is it that you’ve accomplished so much in your life? You’re still full of 1 and I’m already tired of struggling. How can I get that same 2 that you’ve got?”
I didn’t know what to say to you then. But knowing my days are 3 , I figure that I 4 you an answer. So here is what I believe.
I think a lot of it has to do with how a person 5 things. I call it ”keeping your eyes wide open”.
First, realize that life is filled with 6 , but many are good ones. If you don’t keep watching for them, you’ll miss half the excitement. Expect to be thrilled once in a while, and you will be.
When you meet up with challenges, 7 them. They’ll leave you wiser, 8 , and more capable than you were the day before. When you make a mistake, be 9 for the things it taught you. Resolve (决心) to use that lesson to help you reach your goals.
And always follow the rules. Even the little ones. When you follow the rules, life works. If you think you ever really get by with 10 the rules, you’re only fooling yourself.
Sometimes we have to be 11 enough to move from the familiar to the unfamiliar. Life isn’t just reaching 12 . Part of it is moving from one peak to the next. If you rest too long in between, you might be tempted to 13 . Leave the past in the past. Climb the next mountain and enjoy the view.
Dump things that weigh you down 14 and spiritually. When an old resentment (怨恨), belief, or attitude becomes heavy, 15 your load. Get rid of those hurtful 16 that slow you down and drain (消耗) your energy.
Remember that your choices will create your 17 and your failures. So consider all the pathways 18 and decide which one to follow. Then believe in yourself, get up, and get going.
Most important of all, 19 give up on yourself. The person hat ends up a winter is the one who resolves to win. Give life everything you’ve got, and life will 20 it’s best to you.
Love always
Grandpa

But something was(14) inside of me. I was empty inside.
One day I met Michelle, who had also taken piano lessons from Olga.

As the music spread,a(n)(20) feeling rose inside me.

“Tear them apart!” “Kill the fool!” “Murder the referee!”
These are common 1 we may hear at various sporting events. At the time they are made, they may seem innocent enough. But let's not 2 ourselves. They have been known to 3 behavior in such a way as to lead to real violence. Actually, 4 with certain meanings may cause us to react in ways quite 5 our usual humanistic(人文主义的,人道主义的) behavior, which is characterized by care and 6 . I see “opponent(对手)” as one of those words. Perhaps the time has come to 7 it from sports terms.
The dictionary meaning of the term “opponent” is “one who opposes your interests”. 8 , a player may tend to treat his opponent as a(n) 9 and whatever rude behavior may be considered reasonable. I remember an incident in a handball game when a referee 10 a player's request for a time out for a glove 11 because he did not consider them wet enough. The player started to 12 his gloves across his 13 T-shirt and then shouted, “Are they wet enough now?” I have also 14 a player react to his opponent's illegal blocking by 15 hitting him with the ball as hard as he could. 16 the court, they are good friends. Does that make any sense? It certainly gives proof of a court attitude which differs from 17 behavior.
Therefore, I believe it is time that civilized play should be brought back to the 18 world. 19 the term “opponent” with “associate” could be a(n) 20 way to start, since it is defined as “colleague”, “friend” or “companion”.

It's sad to know that each year many teenagers experience the death of someone they love. This is likely to have an 1 on their life. Although bereavement(丧失) is a difficult and 2 topic, I'm going to talk about some of the things that 3 helped me to cope better after losing my dad in 2012.
The most important 4 is not to "bottle things up". At first, I didn’t tell anyone how I really felt when I should have spoken about it. No one should be 5 to feel upset after losing someone they love, as it’s an 6 time. It is important to talk about how you feel to people you 7 so they can support you. I “opened up” to few people, but it was nice to know that I had people there who I could 8 if I had a (n) 9 day. I spoke to my friends and my teachers, who would offer 10 .
Another thing that I found to be 11 after losing my dad was to make a 12 box. This is a box where I put stuff that reminded me of my dad, and the memories I 13 with him. I still have the 14 now,and it makes me 15 .
Finally, it’s important to take time to grieve(悲痛) properly. I decided to focus on my studies and the things I 16 doing. I get 17 from time to time but I’ve learned that it’s okay to 18 .
Everyone will have their own ways of 19 after losing someone they love. This outlines what I personally found helpful. Everyone should remember that they are not 20 .
