【答案】

Recently Shan zhai has become a hot topic and a household phrase“Shan zhai” products

such as cell phones and MP3 sale almost everywherebut different people react differently

Nearly half of my classmates hold the view that they like to have Shan zhai products because they are trendy and similar to famous bandsBesidesthey are low in priceAII in allthey appeal to the need of the young people

While the other half hold the opposite view.  They believe no Shan zhai products which are made in small village workshops, can compare with the real ones in terms of quality and after-sale services.  Their low prices are based on the low cost, What’s worse, they can break copyright laws when copying well-known products.

As far as I am concerned, I try to remain an open mind, believing that there’s reason being everything.

You are only as old as you feelit is saidBut soon scientists will be able to calculate

your real” physiological(生理的)age”

Researchers studying genes believe they can calculate exact physiological age by looking at a number of clues in DNAThey don’t have to ask people how they feel or look at their appearance

The breakthrough could solve the mystery of why some 70-year-olds function at the level of those in their 50swhile others become frail(虚弱的)sooner than you would think

The researchers made the breakthrough by finding the“biomarkers”of aging in tiny worms(虫子).

The worms they studied had all average lifespan(寿命)of three weeksHumans’ some remain live much longer than other similarly-aged wormswhile others show signs of premature aging

By genetically profiling(基因识别)104 different worms at various agesthe researchers found a group of genes that are involved in the aging process

“This is a first step ;our results were not perfectbut we were able to predict the ages of the animals 70 percent of the timewhich is far better than anything that has been done before”said Sireon Melov the lead researcher at Buck Institute for Age Research in California.

Now they want to extend their studies to mice and eventually humans

“I am confident that at some point there will be a non-subjective(主观的)method of determining how old someone is with a high level of confidence”said Melov

The speed at which people age depends on a number of things including genetic inheritance(遗传),lifestyle and mental health

Determining chronological(按时间顺序的)age in both worms and humans is easy-count forward from birthBut determing physiological age has remained subjectivebased on how someone looks or functions

The findings have special meanings for age research in humansExamining biomarker over time would provide a scientific basis for anti—aging medicinesThe technology would also provide a means of determining whether a person is aging faster or slower than people would normally think

1The passage mainly talks about

Athe new finding of gene studying

Bthe relationship between genes and the age

Cthe breakthrough in mental health

Dbiomarkers of aging, in tiny worms

2The researchers’ next goal is to study

Atiny worms              Bbiomarkers           Chumans           Dmice

3Which of the following statements is TRUE?

AThe researchers have found biomarkers of ageing in humans

BThe researchers are able to predict the ages of the humans 70 percent of the time

CPeople’s aging depends oil genetic inheritancelifestyle and mental healthetc

DThere will be a simple method of determining how old someone is

4In the futurescientists will ____

   Aproduce effective anti-ageing medicines

Bfind a group of genes that are involved in the ageing process

   Cdetermine physiological age subjectively

Dset up an institute to calculate humans’ real age

The Invention of Hugo Cabretby Brian Selzniekis a novel like no otherThere are pages of exciting events and then suddenly wait! A picture with tiny detailsthen a big picture that takes up the whole page--and the next pageand the next pageand the next The pictures are actually telling the storyIt’s like a book and a movie all in one

I recently had the opportunity to talk with Selzniek about his unique novelI wanted to know just how he came up with the concept of writing a novel that reads like a picture book

“Because the book is so much about movies and the history of cinemaI also wanted to figure

out how to make a book that is also 1ike a movie”said Selzniek

Writing and illustrating(作插图)the book was a long and hard processSelzniek saidOne of the challenges was figuring not what the story was really about and what happened to the main characterHugoSelzniek also had to figure out how to make the narrative and the pictures work together to tell the story

Selzniek has actually spent most of his career as an illustrator and really considers himself more of an artist than a writer‘‘I’ve always drawnever since I was a little kidI was encouraged to drawand so that’s what I feel most comfortable with”he said

He still enjoys many of the things he liked as a kidThat’s why it's not so hard for him to think about what kids would like to read in a bookIn factsometimes he feels like a kid himself

But sometimes figuring out what was going to happen in the story was not easyhe told meHe had no idea what the story was going to be about when he started writingHe didn’t know if it was going to be sadadventurousor excitingSelzniek turned to friends for advice on the bookFor nowSelzniek doesn’t plan on writing a sequel(续篇)to the bookbut he warns“You can never say never
