Today almost everyone knows computers and the Internet. If I ask you, “What is the most important in your life?”, maybe you will say “Computers and the Internet. ”

The first computer was made in 1946. It was very big but it worked slowly. Today computers are getting smaller and smaller.  But they work faster and faster. What can computers do? A writer has said, “People can’t live without computers today. ”

The Internet came a little later than computers. It is about twenty-five years later than computers.  But now it can be found almost everywhere. We can use it to read books, write letters, do shopping, play games or make friends.

Many students like the Internet very much. They often go into the Internet as soon as they are free. They make friends on the Internet and maybe they have never seen these friends. They don’t know their real names, ages, and even sex. They are so interested in making the “unreal friends” that they can’t put their hearts into study. Many of them can’t catch up with others on many subjects because of that.

We can use computers and the Internet to learn more about the world. But at the same time, we should remember that not all the things can be done by computers and the Internet.

When you take a walk in any of the cities in the West, you often see a lot of people walking dogs. It is still true that a dog is the most useful and faithful animal in the world, but the reason why people keep a dog has changed. In the old days people used to train dogs to protect themselves against attacks(攻击) by other beasts(野兽). And later they came to realize that a dog was not only useful for protection but willing to obey his master. For example, when people used dogs for hunting, the dogs would not eat what was caught without permission.

But now people in the city need not protect themselves from attacks of animals. Why do they keep dogs, then? Some people keep dogs to protect themselves from robbery(盗劫). But the most important reason is for companionship(陪伴). For a child, a dog is his best friend when he has no friends to play with. For young couples, a dog is their child when they have no children. For old couples, a dog is also their child when their real children have grown up. So the main reason why people keep dogs has changed from protection to friendship.

Kids' health: Four steps步骤) for fighting stress

Everybody gets stressed(有压力的) time to time.  36    Some ways of dealing with stress like screaming or hitting someone don't solve (解决) much. But other ways, like talking to someone you trust, can lead you to solving your problem or at least feeling better.

Try taking these four steps the next time you are stressed:

(1) Get support. When you need help, reach out to the people who care about you. Talk to a trusted adult, such as a parent or other relatives.    37     They might have had similar problems, such as dealing with a test, or the death of a beloved pet.

(2) Don't take it out on yourself. Sometimes when kids are stressed and upset they take it out on themselves. Oh, dear, that's good idea. Remember that there are always people to help you. Don't take it out on yourself.     38

(3) Try to solve the problem. After you're calm and you have support from adults and friends, it's time to get down to business.        39     Even if you can't solve it all, you can solve a piece of it.

(4) Be positive ( 乐观的). Most stress is temporary(暂时的).Remember stress does go away, especially when you find out the problem and start working on solving it.

These steps aren't magic, but they do work(起作用). And if you can stay positive as you make your way through a hard time, you'll help yourself feel better even faster.      40

  A. And don't forget about your friends.

  B. Notice your friends' feelings and find a way to help them.

  C. Then, find a way to calm down.

  D. You need to find out what the problem is.

  E. Ah, it feels so good when the stress is gone.

  F. Ask for a helping hand to get you through the hard situation.

  G. Different people feel stress in different ways
