At thirteen, I was diagnosed(诊断)with kind of attention disorder. It made school difficult for me. When everyone else in the class was focusing on tasks, I could not.
In my first literature class, Mrs. Smith asked us to read a story and then write on it, all within 45 minutes. I raised my hand right away and said, “Mrs. Smith, you see, the doctor said I have attention problems. I might not be able to do it.”
She glanced down at me through her glasses, “you are no different from your classmates, young man.”
I tried, but I didn’t finish the reading when the bell rang. I had to take it home.
In the quietness of my bedroom, the story suddenly all became clear to me. It was about a blind person, Louis Braille. He lived in a time when the blind couldn’t get much education. But Louis didn’t give up. Instead, he invented a reading system of raised dots (点), which opened up a whole new world of knowledge to the blind.
Wasn’t I the “blind” in my class, being made to learn like the “sighted” students? My thoughts spilled out and my pen started to dance. I completed the task within 40 minutes. Indeed, I was no different from others; I just needed a quieter place. If Louis could find his way out of his problems, why should I ever give up?
I didn’t expect anything when I handed in my paper to Mrs. Smith, so it was quite a surprise when it came back to me the next day with an “A” on it. At the bottom of the paper were these words: “ See what you can do when you keep trying?”

With all the responsibilities(责任) we face in our daily lives, it’s often hard to get a good night’s rest. The problem really lies in the stress that many of us experience. Stress robs you of the rest that you need by putting you in a state of pressure and worry. There are, of course, some methods that can help you relax, but only a few of them give you a good night’s sleep. One of them is soothing (舒缓的)music for sleep.
Sleep music is not just for encouraging relaxation, it also can be used for various situations. Want to have a relaxing evening by yourself? Practice yoga in a comfortable environment? Think over something important? Then put on your favorite sleep music. Sleep music is not only fit for adults, but has also been known to be good for children. Soothing music helps your children go to sleep more easily.
Massage therapists (按摩治疗师)can also benefit from using soothing music for sleep in their clinics(诊所). This allows clients(客户) to benefit more from the session. For example, massage therapists can provide the relaxation of the body through their techniques, and the music helps clients relax their minds, helping them to relax deeper and feel more refreshed after the session.
You’ll never run out as there are some artists and companies that make sleep music. Choosing the right music is important as well. Like most music that you can find and buy in stores, sleep music has different styles, sounds, and subjects. There are those that are specifically for relaxation, while some are intended to help you go to sleep.
The great thing about sleep music is that it will be something you’ll be using for months, even years to come. If you want a deeper relaxation and better sleep, give some soothing music for sleep a try.

Nowadays women appear to have a positive image(形象) of themselves as safer drivers than men.
In a survey done for insurer MetLife, 51% of women said they drive more safely. The evidence is on their side: Men are 3.4 times more likely than women to get a ticket for careless driving and 3.1 times as likely to be punished for drunk driving. “Women are on average less aggressive(有攻击性的) and more law abiding (守法的) drivers, which leads to fewer accidents,” the report says. However, not all male drivers share the same opinion. Of the men surveyed by MetLife, 39% claimed male drivers were safer. The findings did back them upon one point: automotive knowledge. The report showed that more men are familiar with current safety equipment such as electronic stability control, which helps prevent rollover accidents.
Auto safety unavoidably matters to money. Insurance companies focus on what classes of drivers have the lowest dollar amounts of claims, and for now, that mainly includes women. In general, women pay about 9% less for auto insurance than men. A study by the website Insweb also showed that auto insurance rates are lower for women in most states. Among individual states, women get the greatest, advantage in Wyoming (where they pay 20% less), South Dakota and Washington, D.C, where their insurance costs are 16% lower.
“More than 11,900 male drivers died in US traffic accidents in 2009,compared with just under 4,900 women drivers” according to the study. “Based on miles traveled, men died at a rate of 2.5 deaths per 100 million miles traveled, vs.1.7 deaths for women.”

A. are more aggressive while driving
B. are more interested in auto knowledge
C. are more likely to stick to driving laws
D. are more familiar with safety equipment
13.Insurance companies focus on female driver clients probably because they________.
A. cause more accidents on the road
B. pay more money to the insurance companies
C. take the most part of the insurance clients
D. have the lowest amount of money on insurance claims

A. men are 3.1 times more likely to get tickets than women
B. all women in the USA pay the same for their auto insurance
C. more female drivers die every year than male drivers
D. women are generally safer drivers than the opposite gender

At some point in your life, you will need to ask someone for a favor(帮助), whether it’s at your workplace, at home or in a social setting. If you need a guy to help you with something, there are ways to approach him that will help you ask for that favor.
Find the right guy to ask for a favor. 16 .For example, if you need someone to look after your house while you are away for a month, don’t select a guy who has a wife and kids and can’t possibly leave them to do you the favor.
17 .Even if it’s a small favor, try to find a place that has some privacy(私密性). This is especially important if you’re asking for a favor that you don’t want someone else to hear, such as borrowing money from him.
Use special words to set the table so that he knows you’re in need. 18.Or words such as “I really need your help” are OK. These words give him the chance to understand that he can be of help.
Ask for help in a clear way that expresses what you need, the reason why you need it, and more importantly, the parameters(限定因素) of the favor. For example, if you’re asking him to take you to the airport, tell him when you need him to arrive. If you’re borrowing money from him, say the amount and the reason why you need the money. 19.
Ask for help in such a way that you give him the chance to refuse. 20.If you don’t give him that choice, he may feel as if it’s something he has to do instead of something he wants to do.
A. Find the right place to ask him.
B. Be a kind person who always helps others.
C. The guy must have the ability to help you.
D. Besides, you should tell him when you will give it back.
E. You can say, “I’m really in trouble. Can you help me?”
