One possible version:

Dear editor,

Spring is drawing near. People go out to take exercise. Many people, young and old, develop an interest into mountain-climbing. You can see people over the mountain, in the forest and through the valley.

Mountain-climbing is a good sport. You can get close to nature and enjoy its beauty while you take in fresh air, which is surely good for your health. However, some people don’t behave so well. They throw waste where they go. What’s worse, some people even smoke in the woods, which might start a forest fire.

Personally speaking, it’s good to take exercise outdoors. Sports make us health. But we’d better be aware of the importance of protecting the environment. Only in this way can we enjoy nature and have a happy life.

Best wishes

Sincerely yours,

Li Hua

Women are now as likely to use the Internet as men-about two-thirds of both genders---yet a new study shows that gaps remain in what each sex does online.

American men who go online are more likely than women to check the weather, the news, sports, political and financial information, the Pew Internet and American Life Project reported Wednesday. They are also more likely to use the Internet to download music and software and to take a class.

Online women, meanwhile, are bigger users of e-mail, and they are also more likely to go online for religious information and support for health or personal problems.

“For men, it’s just, ‘give me the facts,’” said Deborah Fallows, who wrote the report based on six years of Pew surveys, “For women, its ‘Let’s talk about this. Are you worried about this problem?’ It’s keeping in touch and connecting with people in a richer way.”

About two- thirds of the 6,403 adults surveyed by Pew during 2005 said they use the Internet. By gender, it was 68%of the male respondents, and 66%of the female participants---a statistically insignificant(不重要的)difference given the study’s margin of sampling error of plus or minus 2%points. In 2002, by contrast, the gap was slightly larger: 61%vs. 57%.

The surverys find that for many activities, such as getting travel information or looking up a phone number, men and women are equally likely to use the Internet.

Seated on a rock, she could be waiting for a bus. But if so, she could be in for a terribly long wait.

A photo of what looks remarkably like a female figure with her arm outstretched was among several taken on Mars and sent back to Earth by NASA’s Mars explorer Spirit, Britain’s Daily Mail reported yesterday. Though no official confirmation has come from NASA on whether the figure is an alien or an optical illusion(视错觉)caused by landscape on Mars, it has set the Internet an excited discussion whether there really is life on Mars.

As one enthusiast put it on the newspaper’s website: “These pictures are amazing. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw what appears to be a naked alien running around on Mars.” Another wrote: “If you show me another rock in another photo from Mars that naturally looks like that, I will reconsider.” A third contributor, who came closer to the majority’s view, said: “Ah, the human eye can be tricked so easily.”

The news of the mystery woman on Mars came just days after a team of French scientists claimed to have discovered a proof that Mars has high dense clouds of dry ice, which float quickly across its orange sky, Indian newspaper Hindustan Times reported.

The first day of school our professor introduced someone we didn’t know. I stood up to look around when a gentle hand touched my shoulder. I turned around to find a wrinkled, little old lady beaming up at me with a smile that lit up her entire being. She said, “Hi, handsome man. My name is Rose. I’m eighty-seven years old. Can I give you a hug?” I laughed and enthusiastically responded, “of course you may!” and she gave me a giant squeeze.

“Why are you in college at such a young, innocent age?” I asked. She jokingly replied, “I’m here to meet a rich husband, get married, and have a couple of kids, and then retire and travel.”

“No seriously,’ I asked. I was curious what may have motivated her to be taking on this challenge at her age. “I always dreamed of having college education and how I’m getting one!” she told me.

Over the course of the school year, Rose became a campus icon and she easily made friends wherever she went. She loved to dress up and she reveled(尽情享受)in the attention bestowed(给予)upon her from the other students. She was living it up.

At the end of the semester we invited Rose to speak at our football banquet. She leaned into the microphone and simply said, “we do not stop playing because we are old; we grow old because we stop playing. There are only four secrets to staying young, being happy, and achieving success. You have to laugh and find humour every day. You’ve got to have a dream, When you lose your dreams, you die. There is a huge difference between growing older and growing up. Anybody can grow older. That doesn’t take any talent or ability.”

She challenged each of us to study the lyrics and live them out in our daily lives. At year’s end, Rose finished the college degree she had begun all those years ago. One week after graduation Rose died peacefully in her sleep.

6l. Rose once made a great speech.

     A. at the graduation ceremony.

     B. at a football banquet

     C. at an annual meeting

     D. at a baseball banquet

62. From what Rose said, we learn that
